Spring and Summer Trends 2020

Spring and Summer Trends 2020

Spring is officially upon us, which means we have a lot to look forward to. Blooming flowers, warmer weather, and hopefully being able to go outside again (fingers crossed). With all this panic and confusion spreading from the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we understand that this can be a hard time for many, if not all of us. We hope that we can relieve some of that anxiety by giving you some fun content to read and by letting you know about all the shoe styles we’re excited to be seeing once this is over.

Bows

First up on our radar are bows! While we’ve seen this trend come and go before, this season we’re going to be seeing chunky bows on everyone’s toes. The playful and elegant touch of bows is all over sandals, summer slides and sneakers. In fact, these fun shoes appeared several times on various occasions during Fashion Weeks. These bows add a beautiful touch, and deliver a feminine, joyful and polished impression. Celebrities and street style stars like Dakota Johnson, Taylor Swift, and Alexa Chung are already tapping the bow shoe trend. You can check out our own version of this trend with our Camilla Court Shoe in Dusky Pink Suede and Navy Suede

Bold Colours

Next up are electric colours;  brighten up your wardrobe with sunny shades of yellow and orange, or an unexpected shade of blue. It’s no secret that bold colours are having a moment, so be prepared to see these bright hues on everyone’s feet this spring, and don’t be surprised if this trend is still kicking around come fall. Whether it’s just a pop of colour from detailing or the whole shoe, this new trend can be played up or down to suit your style. Even Victoria Beckham has been making use of this trend, as she debuted a series of brightly coloured shoes at London Fashion Week. So, before you fall back on your neutral basics, take a stab at spring’s eye-catching colours, and check out our very own take on the trend with our Electric Blue Sally Heeled Sandal and our Sorcha Ballet Flats.

Kitten Heels

Gone are the days of feeling like if you’re going to wear a pair of heels, it has to be at least 6 cm. Short and sweet kitten heels are in, and because they’re far more comfortable than taller heels, it’s a win-win all around. Over the past few years we have seen some gorgeous kitten heel shoes and kitten heel sandals grace the runways, and finally we are seeing this style being rocked out on the streets. Kitten heels, which were originally popularized by actress Audrey Hepburn, are a great way to dress up an outfit without having to deal with the pain of achy feet. Whether you’re looking for the perfect heel to wear to the office or a casual pair of slingbacks for date night, this trend has got you covered. Check out our own Ava Kitten Heel Shoe offered in a variety of colours.

On Point!

The pointed toe shoe has been a classic staple for as long as we can remember, and now the square-toe shoes that have been dominating wardrobes for months have some competition. One of the most flattering shapes, the pointed shoe not only elongates your foot, but — if it's heeled —  also lengthens the leg. And the most welcome news of all? The pointed toe works for pretty much any style of shoe, any occasion. Prepare for this style to come back full force this season, as the edgy look has been seen on many high fashion runways. Shop our own pointed toe styles like our Diana Court Shoe or our Sienna Block Heel Court Shoe.

Pastels

Pastels are always a Spring staple, so it’s no surprise that they’re back again this year! These sweet shades were all over the runway for New York Fashion Week with tones like lavender, mint, and baby blue. There's really no wrong time to sport dreamy pastel colours, but of course, it's only fitting for these shades to flourish in the spring, but we expect these soft hues of pink, blue, green, and yellow are going to be everywhere this year, long past Easter. Sherbet coloured shoes add a great pop to a more neutral outfit and are a fun way to play with colour if you typically stick to a more monotone palette.
